My current event this week is on former sen. McCain and how he says Bush failed in number of areas and you can check this out on http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27386775/. McCain says he was proud to be a republican but believed the Bush administration had failed in a number of areas, asking voters to remember that “I’m not George Bush.” Lately, McCain and his campaign have broken away from bush and his administration because they are unpopular with the vote, blaming him for the economic downturn and a record national debt. Even McCain's running mate Sarah Palin said that Bushs unpopularity as the campaign’s most biggest obstacle. McCain acknowledged that he has voted with Bush more than 90 percent of the time, but he said that on the most important issues like the U.S. strategies in Iraq, climate change and the economy, he was not popular in my own party.”
I don't think this was bias it was straight forward because its an interview. I think the information is all there because he was pretty straight forward about what he wanted to say. I don't really have an opinion on McCain because i haven't really followed him. I don't have question because if you watch it you will understand a lot it wont leave you lost.its important and affects me because he might be my next president.

My current event this week is on former sen. on Collin Powell and how he says that he backs Obama and you can read more at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27265369/ . This morning Oct 19, 2008 Collin Powell endorsed Sen. Obama for president. He also criticized his own republican party for what he called a narrow focus on personal attacks over a serious approach to presidential challenges. Powell clearly stated he was not supporting Obama because his race. He said he had watched both Obama and his republican opponent Sen. McCain for many months and thought "either one of them would be a good president." But he said McCain’s choices in the last few weeks especially his selection of Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate had raised questions in his mind about McCain’s judgment. “I don’t believe Palin is ready to be president of the United States,” Powell said flatly. By contrast, Obama’s running mate, Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware, “is ready to be president on day one.”
I found this harder to summarize than the rest because it has lots of conversation and dialogue. This story comes off unbiased to me though. Something to me is missing and that's why is it that he doesn't think Palin isn't ready but Biden is. My opinion is not much into it because this isn't really gonna effect the elections outcome. This is a big important story because its our politicians and are in charge of our government. That is also how it affects my life.

Elevator Are Not Needed in Lfie
Elevators are a great way to get you where you are going in a hurry. Why take the stairs? They aren’t necessary. Well that’s how I feel about elevators. Ever since I was a little boy I have had a dislike for elevators. I mean, I have never been stuck in one or am I claustrophobic, but it’s something about them that rattles me. So anytime I can, I try to avoid them. Not only when I am out, but also when it comes to making life choices. I have come to use this as my slogan in life. The slogan is, ‘Elevators are not needed’ and this I have come to believe in very strongly.
When it comes to life, in most every situation you are faced with, you can either take the stairs or the elevator. The stairs represent honest hard work. The elevator represents taking the easy way, taking shortcuts. This means you miss out on things that can really affect your life experiences and lessons. Elevators sometimes can make you forget that a little hard work pays off. A good example, for me personally, would be my grandmother. In her younger days, she worked for several good companies for many years and then each one of them closed down, leaving her unemployed.

Then she realized that she did not want to work for anyone else again. She chose the path of the stairs. From her first step she began to start her long climb to where she is at now. She is financially well off and able to help others. Something else I value and admire is that she is content and appreciative of her life’s journey. She can reflect back on how far she has come and how much she has accomplished in her effort to provide financial security for our family. About 25 years ago my grandmother opened her own business. She has worked hard and still works today, even though she has reached the age of retirement. I think that is a self test that determines your passion for what you do. She has told me that she does it because she knew it was best for the entire family even the family members looking for that free elevator ride. Through that, she has shown me that my belief is evidence that hard work and motivation equal passion which is all achieved through good work ethics and taking the stairs.
Surely there were shortcuts for her to take to get to where she is now, but then she never would have known what it is to only have your needs and not be able to have your wants. Now when someone comes to her she can relate to them and give them her story for encouragement. My grandmother believes in strong work ethics, because it will amount to everything in the end, even though it looks like small beginnings. This is why I believe that good work ethics are so important and elevators are not needed in life.

BAIL OUT!!!!!

I chose this weeks current event on the very important and most recent topic of the past weeks the wall street bail out and the signing of a bill that is suppose to better the situation and you can access this link on http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081004/ap_on_bi_ge/financial_meltdown
today Friday October 3, 2008 president bushed signed a bill passed by congress to let the government have a $700 billion dollar bail out.He says by doing this that they have confronted the biggest economic disaster since the Great Depression if lawmakers failed to act. It was also stated that by Rep. John A. Boehner that we are still in the midst of a recession . He also goes on to say that the ride will be rough but the rescue plan is going to make it not as rough.
I think this article was pretty straight forward expect some of the words used make it seem that he leans more toward republican be cause he used the words rescue plan and that's what the republicans call it. I think its still general on exactly wat its going to do and how it doesnt put it in lamans terms for the average person.a strong opion is i hope its the best thing for my and my childrens future.its important because it envolves our country and well being finacially that is why its important and effect me. my biggest question is why did this republican plan sway more black democrats?
